Ok, so I drained most of my brew out via the spigot, trying to not disturb the baby SCOBY forming at the top of the liquid (see it there? looks like a layer of pond scum!)
I tasted it & it was good, so I went ahead & bottled it. (SO EXCITED!!)
I kept one plain & I flavored one with a couple of Craisins...yum, right?
I'll let you know...

I'm glad it tasted okay! I like the idea of using the tea container. Do you clean between uses or just leave it all in there then add more tea to start a new batch?
Well, Erica... this is my first time, but I did not clean it out, I just poured the new tea on top. Which probably stopped the growth of that baby SCOBY, but my Kombucha Guru (Bacteria Pimp) said it was ok, it will just start another one & BOY did it, I'll do another Kombucha post soon showing what's going on in my second batch! It's prolly ready to bottle any day, but the new SCOBY is going crazy!
Are you brewing? I'm so stoked about this!!
Your kombucha looks lovely! It's so much fun making it at home--we use the same container you do-very convenient.
Erin--drop me an email (you can link to it through my profile) with your address info so I can send you your pay it forward gift!
Cheers!
I am not brewing right now, but am trying to make my own SCOBY. It's interesting to say the least.
Ok, so far from Batch #2, I am LOVIN' the Ginger! This time the Craisin was a bit bitter...the plain is just ok.
This time I made the tea really strong & will bottel early & see how that goes, the last batch seemed a bit watery compared to the first...
